About The Qualified Answer
I've spent over thirty-five years in enterprise technology - from early-career engineering and architecture through senior leadership, advisory, and large-scale transformation. I've built platforms, led teams, advised boards, and helped organisations navigate every major technology shift from client-server to cloud to AI. For thirteen of those years I was at Amazon Web Services, where I recorded hundreds of podcast episodes - the AWS Podcast reached over twenty-five million downloads - and sat across the table from thousands of technology leaders wrestling with decisions that would shape their organisations for years.
But the pattern I kept seeing wasn't unique to AWS or to cloud. Whether it was a media company re-platforming in the early 2000s, a financial services firm betting on microservices, or a government agency navigating sovereign data requirements, the question was almost never "what should we do?" They usually knew the options. The question was always "what should we do given our context?" - given this team, this legacy, this board, this budget, this moment.
The honest answer to almost every meaningful technology question is "it depends" - but that phrase has become a cop-out, a way to avoid taking a position. I wanted to build a show that goes beyond that. The Qualified Answer is what comes after "it depends": the expert perspective that accounts for your reality, delivered by people who have earned the right to qualify their answers because they've lived with the consequences of getting it wrong. "Qualified" means both things - credentialed enough to have an opinion, and honest enough to tell you where that opinion has limits.
I chose to build this show now because we're at another inflection point. I watched cloud computing go from novelty to core infrastructure over fifteen years, and I see the same pattern unfolding with AI. The decisions technology leaders are making in 2026 will compound for a decade or more. They deserve better than hot takes and vendor pitches. They deserve the qualified answer.
